Soft Washing vs. Pressure Washing: Which Does Your Home Need?

People often use the phrase pressure washing to describe any kind of exterior cleaning. In reality there are two different methods, and using the wrong one can damage your home. Here is how to tell them apart.

What is pressure washing?

Pressure washing uses a high-pressure stream of water to blast away dirt, grime, and stains. It is ideal for hard, durable surfaces that can take the force: concrete driveways, sidewalks, pavers, and pool decks.

What is soft washing?

Soft washing uses low pressure combined with specialized cleaning solutions that break down algae, mold, and mildew. Because it relies on the cleaning agents rather than brute force, it is safe for delicate surfaces. We use it on roofs, painted siding, stucco, screen enclosures, and anywhere high pressure would do more harm than good.

Quick guide: which method for which surface

  • Driveways, sidewalks, pavers, pool decks: pressure washing
  • Roofs (shingle or tile): soft washing
  • House siding, stucco, and painted surfaces: soft washing
  • Lanai cages and screen enclosures: soft washing

The good news is you do not have to figure this out on your own. We assess each surface and use the right approach for the job, so your home gets a thorough clean without any risk of damage.
